Thursday 6th May 2021.
It doesn't feel like May at all, more like March. It was windy as buggery 2 days ok and raining, why is it always gusty when it rains? Mum said the neighbour's fence blew flat over, and then stood up again.
I put a picture up for display last Sunday at the Plain Arts tent in the arts fayre in the market square. Had to get a frame from the Range, had to wait a while as it was lashing down. Every time I want to do something, it bloody rains. Some of the tents blew over in the wind, I chased after a sketched frame that was blowing across the stones.
The fayre is run by someone called Sally. I don't think she understands my autism and views me as a bit 'odd'. She's a photographer like me and is everything I 'don't want to be! Eg snobby and a bit abrupt.
Apparently, on the news the G7 meeting in London had two people prove positive with the Indian virus! They're now in isolation, but not before one of them shook hands with Patty Patell the foreign secretary. Hope she hasn't got it, or we're all doomed again!
Today is also the local elections day, I have voted for labour as the Conservatives made a hash of handling the virus with their dithering delays. I went to the Methodist church, there was a long line of people waiting to go in. I used to go for the day centre Christmas parties here, and lifestyles once had their AGM here once.
The day centre used to be at Love Lane, There used to be a brothel many years ago along that road hence the name. Me and mum used to help in the kitchen (of the day centre, not the brothel!), Lorrain was the first person I met, skinny as a rake she lived at White parish village above the post office just outside of Salisbury. I thought she was a bit hippyish when I first met her, but she was wonderful. Most of the elderly people who went to that day centre are now gone, but I remember them all, we used to Bingo in the afternoons. I used to do their shopping by following a list. That day centre has now been pulled down, but we moved to some warden assistant flats in the Friary called David Stokes House. Tuesday and Thursday were the days the day centre was open, I remember me and dad used to go and meet mum after she finished.
I wasn't happy about mum going to the Friary as it hasn't got a nice reputation, but there are worse places now. Next door is some Alm Houses which were built in the 18th century for six (unknown) poor widows, there is a plaque on the wall tho their memory but it's rather weather-worn and should be restored.
