I'm now back from Newquay and I'm missing it, I love the seaside and I hope to move to South Devon one day.
I went to Falmouth which was an experience. I went to Dolly's tearoom and I had a tea cake, I love all the vintage china they use. they get donated the china and I took a sip of my tea out of my cup and also most spat it out! The cup they had served it in was a Royal Albert tea cup! Just the plate and the cup are worth £400, they have the whole service which is worth £4,000!! I also noticed a Royal Dalton milk jug in the shape of a horse with some flowers in it, their bathroom is nice with blue seats and a wash jug and bowl on a stand.
I visited the maritime museum, they have a display of tattooed arms and deep-sea monsters, I got in free as my ticket ran out in September when I last came.
I went to Heligan Gardens which was brilliant, I had to change at St Austel railway station to get the bus which also stops at Mevagissey and Fowey, lots of other people were going there so this is something I'd like to try next year.
Heligan gardens were discovered in the 1990s, it was closed in 1914 as many of the gardeners enlisted and went to war, and not many of them came back. The walled gardens are lovely with melons growing in enclosed greenhouses, many people were there so it was hard trying to get a photo without people wandering into the shot.
I got a bit constipated the night before so I took some Ducolax, should have only taken one but I took 2! I knew something was up because in the morning my stomach started making funny noises, I had to change my underwear as I had a slight accident.
There is a rare breed farm at Heligan which has a shire horse and a Bodmin Moore pony, shire horses are becoming rare as farm machinery takes over. I sat on a bench overlooking a field, I could see the sea in the distance where Mivagissey is. I also saw a robin who stood still enough for me to take his photo, the bird seemed to be following me. They say a robin is a sign of someone who's died coming to visit, I wonder if it was Liz?
I raced into a portaloo which is something I don't normally do unless I'm very desperate. I attempted the rope bridge, Prince Charles has been along with it. It is hard work especially if your sandals get caught in the rope, it also swings and jumps up and down when other people get on it.
I got the bus back at five past the hour, Had to wait for a bit first, lovely and peaceful apart from the crows squawking loudly in the nearby tree as they built their nests.
The bus went to Mevagissey I can get a boat to Fowey. I've been to some exciting places in Cornwall, lets hope I can do the same next year.
There's been a shooting at a school in Texas, people want the gun law changed so that teachers are armed with guns! Won't be long before it's reported that a teacher has shot a student, apparently the authorities waited a whole hour before SWAT turned up. Meanwhile, parents were going nuts as the police wouldn't let them in even though they could hear gunshots as the killer went on the rampage, and they want to arm teachers with guns!
I went for a walk last night photographing all the Jubilee displays in the windows, it was such a fine evening last night. There's only one shop selling Jubilee stuff now as everyone seems to have gone mad and bought it all up, I got some bunting which I hope to put in the garden; not until the weekend through. There's going to be a lot of Jubilee parties in town, George Mall and the marketplace are having a party also one in the cathedral close. There's one at Harlequins, not sure if I'll go yet.
Hung out the washing yesterday morning, and now I'm waiting for another load to do as it's gone overcast from when it was sunny this morning, not supposed to do anything yet!
I miss the sound of seagulls, really do.
