Tuesday 17th May 2022.
I went to Fistral beach on Sunday, it was a glorious sunny morning. Rick Steines cafe was closed so I went down the steps to the cafe below, I think this is the one Jackie goes to. I ordered a latte and rang dad up, he said it was gray and dreary. I'm not looking forward to going back to Salisbury at all, especially when the train goes through Teignmouth and everyone's having fun on the beach and I can't join in.
I went for a walk round the nature trail, it was a bit breezy, lots of sparrows hopping about amongst the bushes; then I felt a spot of rain. I went to a cafe which displays framed arty pictures, its over the road from the hill that goes down to the harbour. They have pillows on the seats and their creams tea's are yummy, probably fattening too.
Went back up towards the nature trail after lunch, I heard the lifeboat siren go off so I stood overlooking the harbour. Someone said it was someone at Lusty Glaze in trouble, they were stood down but the jet ski still went out. It's hard work going up the hill, the views are just stunning then began to go back into town as it was starting to drizzle which was a pain. There's lots of benches by the memorial cross with dedications on them in metal plaques, one bench has cuddly toys on to a little one who died far too young. I stopped at a small cafe called Little Italy, then saw the prices and moved on.
I went to go to Flambards yesterday, I got as far as Truro then rang up only to be told they were closed! So I high-tailed it on a bus just pulling out to Perrenporth, weather was still sunny. Got off by the green and went to see if the Dolphin cafe was open, they only accept cash but were closed today anyway due to Covid. There is another teashop nearby which was also closed, a notice said ' closed, see you in the Spring'. Um, it is Spring.
I eventually went to the one that I used to go to with my parents, they have very nice chicken korma sandwiches. I sat outside which was very pleasant, lots of dogs came past which I secretly photographed to put on my facebook page. It's called 'streetlife of dogs'.
Sat along the prominent, saw an overweight dog, poor thing why do owners not do anything about it? A couple of lady next too me eating chips were stalked by a seagull, a water pistol will soon sort that out.
I got an ice cream, I only wanted a small one; it was a big big. I sat on the green furiously licking away and dripping all over the stones and grass. I got the bus back to Newquay, there is an upturned car in one of the fields laying on it's roof. Many of the sheep now have lambs, some of the mothers have blue paint on their wooly backs, I wonder what it means.
Went to the cinema and saw a filkm called Firestarter, it was very good; also spoke to a girl who likes westerns. She would like 5 action which used to be called Paramount. The film finished at 10.15pm so I walked very fast back to the hotel through the quiet streets, the sea looks dark out there.
I went to Flambards today, I got up at 7.30am and had an early breakfast, I heard the dawn chorus this morning. Also heard on the radio that it would rain later. I hoped they were wrong as it was a glorious sunny morning, had my shorts on. Went to the bus stop by the Hreat Western, a lot of people catch the bus from their, I can also get wifi from there too.
Stand C at Truro is for Flambards, I was dropped off at Sainsburys and crossed the car park as it was drizzling. The rain came down hard just as I got to the cafe, I could hear it drumming against the canvas roof. I decided to do the Victorian village first which was very interesting, bit like a rabbit warren. There were arrows on the wall to show you where to go, the photographers studio was very interesting. Had a pasty for dinner then went to the Blitz museum, they have a whole street and someone's living room during the last war. An air raid siren went off and then the all clear, my grandad on my mum's side was a fire watcher during the war.
One day our living rooms, bedrooms etc will be on display in a museum in hundreds of years to come. People will ask me about the Corona virus and how we coped, millions of people died who needn't have died.
I bought an umbrella, pink and see through. It keeps my head dry but not my back I don't think. I crossed the car park to Sainsburys to get the bus back, ended up going into Helston on the bus and to Redruth station where I found a bus to Newquay. I think one woman wanted to go back to Truro, the driver offered to drive her into town like she had me but she refused; I hope she isn't stranded.
I'm hopeing to visit Tralissic gardens in Falmouth tommorrow, only if it's a few hours at least I've been. I only have three days left as I want to make the most of them. I'm going to be crying buckers when I leave, but Ive got Teignmouth in August to look forward too.
