Bad news for some this morning> Firstly there is a new strain of Covid-19 which is more contagious so Boris has scrapped the five-day bubble plan for people in these areas and only Christmas day has been relaxed now.  the new strain has caused a surge in cases which is frankly terrifying.


15 million people will be banned from Christmas shopping after today - as non-essential retail is closed and people are told to stay at home, so if no one has finished in time then it's online.  I started in October but the post office now has a huge backlog of mail, so many may not get their gifts in time for Christmas.

Also, it's been said that people trying to leave the restricted area's without good reason could be arrested and fined.  

The list of areas placed under Tier 4 rules will be:

  • Kent
  • Buckinghamshire
  • Berkshire
  • Surrey (excluding Waverley)
  • The boroughs of Gosport, Havant, Portsmouth, Rother and Hastings
  • All 32 London boroughs and the city of London.
  • Bedford, Central Bedfordshire, Milton Keynes, Luton, Peterborough
  • Hertfordshire
  • Essex (excluding Colchester, Uttlesford and Tendring).
    Places that are closing from Midnight tonight are:

    • Non-essential shops, including electronics and clothing stores

    • Hairdressers and barbers

    • Nail salons

    • Spas and beauty bars

    • Clothing and electronics stores

    • Vehicle showrooms

    • Travel agents

    • Betting shops

    • Auction houses

    • Tailors

    • Car washes

    • Tobacco and vape shops

      • Bowling alleys, leisure centres and gyms, sports facilities including swimming pools, golf courses and driving ranges, dance studios, stables and riding centres, soft play facilities, climbing walls and climbing centres, archery and shooting ranges, water and theme parks.

      • Theatres, concert halls, cinemas, museums and galleries, casinos, adult gaming centres and arcades, bingo halls, bowling alleys, concert halls, zoos and other animal attractions, botanical gardens.

      • Body and skin piercing studios, non-medical acupuncture, and tanning salons.

      • Libraries

      • Community Centres

      • Museums and galleries

      • Amusement arcades


    I know alans got to work on Boxing day. so hopefully aunt Joan will go up to Liz and Dave's.  Pubs will have to close which will be a blow to the economy. but churches can still stay open.  cancer patients are in for it as a lot of their treatment is being stopped due to Covid.  

    I went up to my parents with the trolley, I intend to cycle up to parents on Christmas eve; there's no way I'm spending Christmas on my own.  A group of Ukalayle players called the Pluckers were playing by the library, I thought wendy's band would have been out today.

    • Laundrettes and dry cleaners

    • Undertakers

    • Banks, building societies

    • Short-term loan providers, credit unions and ATMs

    • Storage and distribution centres

    • Post Offices

    • Car rental services and car parks near vital services such as supermarkets

    • Public toilets

    • Food banks and shelters

    Been so busy over Christmas which just shot by. Went up aunt Joan's, Karl rang Alan while we were at Dunchurch to ask where we were.  We went the London road route, I was relieved when Alan turned up. We went to Elliott's field a shipping complex near Brownsover estate,  most of the shops are closing in the town and may be turned into flats.  I don't even know how long shops will last, because everyone seems to shop online.  I'd rather feel the product, then have to return the stupid thing because it didn't look like what was in the photo. When my parents came to Rugby in 1967 Rugby was a different world.  It has changed a lot, we used to park at Rugby precinct now renamed Clock Towers.  Someone got killed while under the ift fixing it, how horrible in that?  Alan knew one of his friends, what a way to die.     Tuesday May 5th 2020

    There's days I feel like writing, and days I don't.  Looks like things are going as they are until June, mos of the summer will soon be over and I can't bare the thought of that and not seeing my parents. Awoke to the sound of emergency verhicles going past, sounded like police cars. I did a perscription for Lisa at no 11 this morning, I'm happy to help.  Dot my neighbour is in hospital as she's broke her leg, poor thing has breast cancer.  I met her brother who seems a nice chap, also we have a couple of new black birds visiting ther garden.  Lisa has called them Billie and Elsie, I hope the perigrins from the cathedral leave them alone this time.   I caught my grill alight couple of days ago when I tried to cook some burgers, I finished them off in the oven.  I will have to use my George Forman machine now, as when I tried turning the grill on to do some fish fingers, my electrics flipped so my TV and heating went off.   I went for a walk r...

    Friday April 17th

    Weathers a bit gray today, but it was lovely yesterday.  I went to Tesco extra on Southampton road and the waiting time was horrendous, so I'll doubt if I will wait there again if that's bad.  I had heartburn last night, and its back again today, It comes in waves so I hope it's not a sign of Corona.  Even B and M have a waiting time to get in, althrough their so called glass protective panels are not good. I clapped for the NHS last night and took a video with my phone.  Going to stop now as chest is really hurting.
