It's' my parent's wedding anniversary today, the card I ordered from Moonpig arrived yesterday so I secretly put it on mum's pillow. I thought I had heard something rattle through the door.
Most of the people who attended my parent's wedding are now long dead, my dad loved Teignmouth and so did mum when we were there. Dad said he had a very quiet stag night and spent it with his grandad, chatting and watching TV.
I have seen photos of my great grandfather my great grandmother who died in the front room at East Street. She couldn't get upstairs so they brought a bed down for her, he said goodnight to her one evening; sadly she never woke up again. I like to think they have reunited again, perhaps I'll meet them one day.
Dad was raised by his grandparents after his parents died in 1942. Aunt Kitt (or Katherine) was his mum's sister Selena (dad's mum) was very pretty with dark hair. I often wondered what great aunt Kitt was like, as I only saw her when she was much older. She used to visit mum, I think we went to hers but I was too young to remember. Although I do recall being sat on a table in a parlour.
Mum says she always remembers the bells of St Paul's, and how annoyingly loud they were. I used to hear them when I was in the back garden on a Sunday evening, they used to have bell practice Sundays.
They won't be ringing ever again as the powers to be have said the ropes hiding them are unstable. St Thomas church in town does bell practice, quite relaxing on a summers evening to hear them from far away.
Parents said they went to Teignmouth by steam train and came back on the new details. It was a different world then, and it will change again.
My earliest memory is laying in a carrycot watching a seagull fly over, light was shining through its wings. Also, room with a nightlight on, think I was in a cot; dad said there was a tremendous thunderstorm at the time. Devon always gets spectacular storms.
Went to Warminster today to a meeting called the Knowledge cafe, took the train as the bus would have taken forever. Managed to find it in the end, it's in the building of an old theatre, had to ask in a clothes shop for the way. Back started playing up during the meeting, more of a muscle thing than a spine thing. I can feel it when I breathe in.
We did have some thunder one night about 4 pm after the heatwave, I jump every time the window flashes. My stupid finger keeps bleeding and feeling sore, have now got some steroid cream. The Dr thinks I have a trigger finger and I have to have a blood test which I'm not looking forward to, also have my hands x-rayed at the hospital.
