Friday news years Eve 2021

What a crazy few days it's been. Christmas was quiet for us the second day running, watched the Mary Poppins sequel about the Banks children as adults. Dad's catheter was blocked on Boxing day, spent hours on the phone to 111 services. I was panicking that we wouldn't be able to get any help, eventually, the nurse came. She had called earlier at 8 pm, but because she banged the door, only my parents couldn't hear because they are deaf. We had soup for dinner which peeved me off, as everyone else was having roast dinners etc. Gemma the lady who lives next door has Covid, yet I've seen people coming and going when she's supposed to be isolating! The PM wants people to take care at NYE parties, be a lot of idiots in town tonight. The anti-vaxers are being assholes. They dared to invade a vaccination centre in Milton Keynes & throw cones at people. The government must do something about these idiots who put razor blades in their posters.  Bring out the water can...

Friday 24th December 2021.

Another Christmas Eve, let's hope it's better than the last one.  Went on a Christmas tree trail walk on Wednesday with the Walk class I go to Thursday afternoons, it was bitterly cold so I wore my Russian hat. I tried to get Stollen cake at Tesco but they had sold out, Tried Sainsbury's and I even got up early this morning to try big Tesco and ladle but they were all out!  I got a phone call as well in the Tesco cafe to say we need to do flu tests as one of the ladies was positive for Corona, so I raced home and thankfully my test was negative.   I managed to find Stollen cake in Reeve the bakers, had to pay a bit more but I got the last two boxes for £10. Hoping to go to a nativity tonight.  Have to get the bus.

Tuesday 21st December 2021

There were only 18 of us last night at the White Hart, some people had pulled out; it was keenly felt by the empty chairs at the table. We were the only party in the hotel, with lots of cancellations for the hospitality trade in Salisbury.  In 2019 we had fun and games with balloons flying around the room, & party poppers. All seems rather sombre this year. Had Salmon, Turkey & Christmas pud. I sat next to Graham's wife, a very nice lady who volunteers at the cathedral. Peter one of the camera club members was on his own, his wife Sheila is in a home. I had to do a flow test before I came, wasn't sure if it had worked but it did. Met the WI this morning, Gill brought Jammy dodgers. Someone's shown interest in the robin mug I made, didn't with Photobox. Must get hair trimmed, rules get tightened after Boxing Day. Wales have already shut nightclubs, and the trains have stopped coming from Scotland due to staff being ill. Here we go again! Went to Tesco to get in C...

Sunday 19th December 2021

The dinner at St Paul's has been cancelled due to the virus, I'm very disappointed because I was looking forward to it, a lot of people around the UK have been cancelling parties etc because of this new variant. It killed an Italian singer last night they had him in an induced coma. I went to the Wax class at Victoria Park on Friday. Put on my Santa hat which makes my head hot, we stopped at a lady's house because she couldn't make it, Andrew sang her 'we wish u a merry Christmas,' Went up along the cycle path up towards Sarum castle, I was cream crackered. Walked back through the estate back to Victoria Park. The walking for health dinner went well, we walked around the back.  I felt guilty because I misunderstood the menu, and took fish as well as turkey. I have a budget when I go to Tesco, I'll go when it's quieter. The news is worrying at the moment. Sometimes I find it sad that we'll never go on holiday as a family again, or visit aunt Joan  I a...

Wednesday 15th December 2021.

Another bright star is in the sky, gone to join the angels. Much loved Comedian Jethro died yesterday of COVID complications, the Chinese virus has claimed another victim. I remember I saw him live at the City Hall many years ago with Lifestyles, I can't believe he's gone. Now he'll be entertaining people in spirit, we'll never see his like again; not on the earth plain anyway. I went to Victoria Park yesterday to a Carers lunch, it was all vegetarian but very nice. We had green soup followed by vegetarian Wellington. The dessert was apple pie with clotted cream, also had Minch pies which I can't have. We had a lady playing carols on a piano, when they asked for a request, I suggested if there were any shanty like type carols. We had a good laugh singing one to the tune of, what shall we do with the drunken sailor. We used to sing sea shanty type songs all the time in Teignmouth, must be lovely there now. It's amazing what the Pantry club have done with the old ...

Thursday 10th 2021

The flat was cold when I got up, had another headache my body does this when it thinks its time to get up; not at 2am in the morning! I am part of a walking group called walking for health. Every Thursday we meet in various places and go for a walk somewhere different, I've met some nice people and I think I should have joined earlier.  My first walk was at Elizabeth gardens, I get to find out places I never knew existed. Waitrose cafĂ© was closed, so everyone's gone to the smaller one and it was jam packed, eventually managed to get a small table but a lot of our group sat outside. Boris Johnson says we can still have Christmas parties, but now people have to have Covid passports to go into football matches and nightclubs etc.  Parties in Scotland are being cancelled which must be awful, this new virus seems to be hanging up the north and London only; hope it stats there! Had a do at Salisbury museum. I can't touch mince pies but the stollen cake cub...

Wednesday Dec 8th

The PM is giving a talk tonight at 6 pm because of this new Omicron variant, the damn things mutated again!  I had my booster jab Saturday and I had to wait 15 mins until I could go, it wasn't until 8 pm that I started to feel shivery and weird.  I wore my thermals in bed underneath my pyjamas', I think I overdid it because then I got too hot.  Most people who have Pfizer get flu-like symptoms for 2 days, but it's better than having Covid. The Conservatives  are in trouble again as they had a party last year while we were ordered not to!  there is video footage of a woman while rehearsing for a broadcast, smirking about it and a lot of people are angry; I can see a lynching happening.  Boris Johnson's position looks shaky, and now they have brought in stricter rules. I hate cold weather, the Christmas tree in St Thomas church was good as ever, hope nothing else gets cancelled.
