It must have been raining during the night as the pavements were wet, the gulls were very noisy last night.  Breakfast was at 8am and I love all the candles that barbara has.  There's a man down from Swindon who stays for quite a while, wish I could. I got a bus to Newton Abbot and went to look for my favourite cafe which is called the Pharmacy, they have medicine bottles on display in glass bainets which is very interesting.  I managed to find the CEX shop which is next door to Iceland, I posted two of them to my parents in Torquay.

I got the bus to Torquay, its a bit more art deco in Torquay while Teignmouth has a lot of 18th century town houses.  I did find their CEX but I didn't find anything I would keep.  Union Street is one big long street with a lot of High street shops, the harbour was very busy as was the bus I caught where Debenhams used to be.  There was a long queue stretching along the pavement, Torquay now has a military and a real crime museum, Agatha Christie was born in Torquay and lived with her second husband in Greenaway.

I was a bit worried on the bus as stupidly I had forgot my mask, I hope I don't pay for it., I was going to get off at Sheldon but somethng told me not too.  I had dinner at the seaview diner and it started to rain hard, just as well I borrowed an umbrella.  It went off so I walked along the seafront, not surpringly no one was on the beach.  Some rowers preparing for the regatta were on the water, they must be very fit to come out so far from Sheldon.

Most of the houses along the seafront are of the Regency period, some of them are private homes or flats.  Some of them used to be hotels before they closed for good, the bay Hotel at the end is closed and up for sale.  There's a pile of bathtubs in the carpark next to fridges and other things, the bathtubs would make nice garden features although people use showers now.

My light flickered because the guest next door did something to the kettle, John took it away; I never see them because they never come down to breakfast.

Have to plan what to do tommorrow as the weather is a bit hit and miss compared to all the glorious weather we had last week.  Guess that's the end of the heatwave and summer, so sad.
