I had to get my hat from the tailors in Catherine Street before getting the bus, which they cancelled the first one anyway; damn Reds are a bloody pain in the ass! I got up to my parents as quickly as possible, I missed the parade but I watched the king and Camilla (Queen consort) get crowned. Those crowns must be heavy, and the gold coach dates from George the 3rds reign. It takes six horses to pull it and it wobbles from side to side as it moves; the queen said once it made her feel seasick.
This is a historic moment, some people I've met say Charles won't be king for long as he's in his 70's now; my neighbor recons the monarchy will be gone in 20 years time. There's a picnic in the park at 11-4 in Liz gardens today so I'm going with a friend, I'm hoping the weather will be better then yesterday.
