Dad has dropped his tablet yesterday so I went around the phone shop in Catherine street to see if I could get it repaired, the people there said the engineers wouldn't be there until Tuesday, and they would only charge silly money for it anyway.  I only brought him the tablet in April and he's busted it already, screen won't turn on although it's making internet connecting noises. I had to go after dinner, dad's been watching the Glorious Goodwood racing which is a bit boring.  I saw Sam at the bus stop, she's part of haven. I wore my walking trousers today, could have worn my shorts I suppose.  I went to the field in Harnham village as they had put on a fun day and as a WI we wanted to show that we are still around.  I'm proud to be a member of the WI, young people can join too.   The weather was a bit hit and miss, I brought my brolly but nothing happened, Josie, another WI member was making tea's in the hall, I saw lots of dogs at the show; they ...

A percentage of pregnant women are being urged to come forward to have the Covid jab, not many are because they are too scared. I spoke to one in the surgery yesterday, she said she'd rather give birth first.  The blood test wasn't too bad after putting the Emla cream on, wimp that I am.

It's' my parent's wedding anniversary today, the card I ordered from Moonpig arrived yesterday so I secretly put it on mum's pillow. I thought I had heard something rattle through the door.  Most of the people who attended my parent's wedding are now long dead, my dad loved Teignmouth and so did mum when we were there.  Dad said he had a very quiet stag night and spent it with his grandad, chatting and watching TV. I have seen photos of my great grandfather my great grandmother who died in the front room at East Street. She couldn't get upstairs so they brought a bed down for her, he said goodnight to her one evening; sadly she never woke up again. I like to think they have reunited again, perhaps I'll meet them one day. Dad was raised by his grandparents after his parents died in 1942. Aunt Kitt (or Katherine) was his mum's sister Selena (dad's mum) was very pretty with dark hair. I often wondered what great aunt Kitt was like, as I only saw her w...

The south and south-west of the UK are going through a heatwave at the moment, it was like an oven last night in my flat.  Mum said the bin was hot when she arrived on Sunday morning.  I went to Waymouth on Saturday, it was lovely.  the train was almost full until we got to Bournemouth then most people got off, the air conditioning on the train is better than the buses which are stuffy and horrid.  I got talking to the guard and I told him about autism etc, seemed a nice chap was in the RAF. Monday has been nicknamed Freedom day, but I think the government ministers are making a huge mistake, cases are rising again.  On the news a crowd of people waited outside a nightclub in London until Midnight to get in, a woman cut a red ribbon and they all ran inside.  I think it's stupid and David Cummings the minister said we could all be in lockdown again in five weeks! Boris Johnson is in isolation again as the Foreign secretary proved positive for the Delt...

I'm going to write this before I forget, so here goes. England team qualified for the final of the Euro cup against Italy. I walked (or almost ran) on the Sunday to St Paul's church where they had put a huge TV screen up. There were barriers along the Bridge Street, because England had won the last game to qualify, and people came out of Wetherspoons and the Bridge tap pub and went crazy apparently.  There were two policemen in Bridge Street a woman complained That some boys had spat at her in the street. And some kids came along on their bicycles, and she identified it as being them. We are going through a pandemic, and they had to do something stupid like that! I've got to church just as a match was just beginning. Sat near the front then moved again as there was too much glare on the screen. The game was noisy and raucous, there was a lot of cheating going on in the Italian football team. One of the English strikers was going for the ball when an Italian football player...
