Tuesday 31st march 2020 - weather, sunny with clouds

Image
I heard a helicopter fly over early this morning towards the hospital, they are flying supplies in, there are stories about NHS staff not getting enough protective equipment. I went out this morning to Poundland hoping to get a pasta packet, but they had none.  The shop was almost deserted, again no toilet roles.  Paid some money into the bank, they only allow essential transactions now which is frustrating.  Found what I wanted in Tesco, they have boundry tapes on the floor showing how far away from people I should stand.  each time I get my shopping home, I go over it with a disinfectant spray.  I have a lot of respect for the NHS who work so hard saving people's lives.  Boris Johnson said it would get much worse before it got better, everyday the papers report more death's in Wales and Scotland.  The death toll is now 1,789 people.  Also the stockpiling idiots are now in for a nasty surprise, as it's attracting pests like rats, mice and ant...

Monday blues

Image
Brian called this morning which I was s bit worried about, but he apparently had no symptoms and says the virus isn't in Salisbury yet; I'm still suspicious. We went down a very quiet Southampton Road. Usually it's bumper to bumper but it was almost deserted today, garages and hopefully bike shops are still open. We have up on Tesco, there was metal barriers all over the car park and long queues of people waiting to get into the store. So we headed towards Waitrose, which was just as bad, so we decided to go to Aldi. I'm quite impressed with Aldi, there was a queue we got inside quickly. Some people  had masks on, wore my neck scarf which makes my glasses steam up. The government are saying that this might end up being 6-months in lockdown, I think that would completely drive me up the wall. I'm still trying to explain to my dad why I can't see him or mum, but  they don't seem to understand. Brian kindly helped me dry up my DVD player, I couldn'...

Blue Sunday

I'm a bit low in spirits, the Sun newspaper said the lockdown could last as long as June. Even then people would have to stand at a safe distance from one another, how depressing is that? The infection rate has spiked again, one man who flouted the law was turned away at Somerset. From Birmingham, he was trying to get to Devon in a motorhome. Never get back to normal if idiots carry on like this, It had to be someone from the Midlands. Doing the housework this morning, got washing up and a box to clear first. Went to B & M on bike last night, shoes I don't need to use park and ride unless it's raining. Getting fed up with this now, taking risks every time I go out, no pleasure in shopping now: being furtive wondering if it's a day I could get infected or not. My hair needs cutting, but all the salons have been shut until further notice, even Amazon are only delivering essential items. All clothes shops are shut, went round bank yesterday which was closed. No...

Another unusual Saturday

Image
Awoke up at 5.50am with a thumping headache, it was just getting light, I have to paracetamol carefully as it's getting scarce; especially the Calpol.  I don't like getting up early at the best of times, but the pain was awful.  It's still there a little bit. Went to M & S, bit more windier this morning, wasn't so busy as it usually is on a Saturday. I saw two elderly people, who shouldn't have been out at all.  One man was pushing a walker and was with his wife, even the lady handing out baskets said he shouldn't have been out. Went round Tesco's and forgot the soup, I'm so damed forgetful it's unbelievable! I get cross with myself I really beat myself up. So I waited Iceland who only had one tin of vegetable big soup, found a tin eventually round Poundland. Apparently rumours are going round saying that the virus' could peak within the next two weeks, be glad when it's all over and we can all get back to normal. Why did this hav...

Clapping for the NHS in Salisbury

Image
Clap for the NHS, Old Sarum, Salisbury Every Thursday I now join the neighbours to applaud the NHS, Chris one of the neighbours bangs a saucepan.  I can also hear people from the street making a row, does this bring the community together?

We went blue for the NHS

Last night at 8pm when I was watching The Time Tunnle  The Time tunnle  ( a 1960's drama I take the mickey out of, because the actings so appallling ) I heard a tapping sound.  I thought 'who's hammering at this time of night?' then Lisa my neighbour texed and said they were clapping in apprecation for the NHS hero's.  This is being done all over the UK and is brillient!  Other people are lighting candles in their windows, or putting up sparkly lights.  I have to get the shopping up to my parents, trying to convince them how bad this virus is is very hard and they simply will not take it seriously. More updates to come soon. I delivered shopping to parents and phoned dad to to let him know it was there, waved at him from steps. went to Tesco along Wilton Road, there was s queue of people waiting outside. They were only letting one customer in at a time,t one man was getting irate. didn't have what I wanted anyway. Went to Tesco's and Iceland, Tesco...

Places that are allowed to stay open during the outbreak

Image
Places that are allowed to stay open Tesco  Go in through back door by river, out through front.   Trolleys & baskets sprayed before use. Arrows on floor people must follow Signs on floor where customers must stand 2 metre's apart Sainsbury's The line of people waiting to get in can be lengthy, and has been known to streatch down as far as the stairs facing old C & A store ( now domolished ) Waitrose Again long line's of people waiting to get in, can streach right across the carpark Cutomers must have a trolley regardless of whether their buying anything, so staff can do a headcount. All supermarkets are accepting card only and not cash at present, the virus can spread on bank notes.  Pharmacies including Boots are open, but close at 12am and open at 2pm.  When handing in perscription, notes are passed through an open window.  I've done this at Endless Street surgery. All cafe's and pubs are closed including: Weatherspoons Pubs Clothe's shops Charit...

Introduction to Hell

Image
Where to start?  This has been going on for a month now so I will start at the beginning and someone needs to dicument this, this (hopefully) will not last forever and I'm praying to God that this disease will go away. I'm going to try and type eveyday as events unfold in the city, so much has changed it's unbelieveable.  I want to try and remember as much as possible before I forget. I remember my dad had to go into hospital because he had problems down below and ended up on the Durrington ward, this was a worrying time for me and mum and he was admitted. The first reports of Corona came in the newspapers, the WHO (World Health Organisation, not the band!) issued a statement from China that a man had eaten Bat soup!  Who in their right mind would eat bloody bat soup?!  It had mutated and other people were catching the virus which is now rapidly spreading like fury.  The bat is having his/her last revenge on the world. I saw my first mask wearer in Bournemouth b...
